Question:  What is "Lesson" in the Brusnika.LMS system and how does it relate to other educational modules?

Answer:

"Lesson" is a basic educational module in the Brusnika.LMS system, from which larger educational structures such as "courses" and "programs" are formed. Lesson cannot exist independently and must always be part of a course or program. Even if Course consists of only one lesson, this Lesson is first created and then added to Course.

Question: What lesson formats are supported in Brusnika.LMS and how are they created?

Answer:

In Brusnika.LMS, the following lesson formats are supported (only one option per Lesson):

  • Video Tutorial: Video materials are pre-uploaded to external video hosting platforms (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo, VK Video, Rutube).
  • SCORM: SCORM packages can be uploaded directly to Lesson.
  • PDF: PDF format materials (e.g., presentations, instructions) are uploaded directly into the "Lesson PDF" field.
  • Longread: This format is created directly in a specialized editor within the lesson and can include a combination of various elements: video, audio, images, and text. For example, to create an audio course, you need to create Lesson in the longread format, add an audio file there, and then create Course based on this lesson.
  • OfficeAny Office package document (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

You can add an unlimited number of additional materials of any format and links to internal or external sources to the lesson.

Question: What actions can be performed with created lessons and how do their statuses affect Completion?

Answer:

The following actions can be performed with the lesson:

  • Edit: Change the content and parameters of the lesson.
  • Delete: Completely remove Lesson from the system.
  • Export: Save Lesson or transfer it to another portal. Export is possible in Excel format (text content only) or UDATA (entire lesson content). The export format is configurable in the application.
  • Create a copy: A duplicate of the lesson is created with a similar title (with the prefix "Copy") in the "Draft" status.

Lessons have publication statuses ("published", "draft") and completion statuses ("Passed", "Not Passed"). Lesson is considered "completed" only after the user clicks the "Finish" button. If the button is not clicked, Lesson is displayed as "Not Passed".

Question: Are there any restrictions on the size of files uploaded to lessons, and how does the system handle media playback?

Answer:

There are no file size restrictions for uploading to lessons. However, network bandwidth and available disk space in the application should be taken into account.

Regarding media playback:

  • Playback from pause: The system remembers the point where the user stopped watching a video or PDF file and offers to resume from that point upon the next opening.
  • Video: Videos embedded from a video hosting platform are automatically scaled. Videos embedded in Longread require manual size adjustment.
  • PDF files: PDF files do not auto-scale, but they are equipped with special controls for resizing and rotation, as well as the option to open the file in a separate window.
Question: How can I upload and insert videos, audio, and images into lessons, especially longreads?

Answer:

Direct uploading of video files from a local disk for playback in a video lesson is not supported; videos must be pre-uploaded to any video hosting service. However, video, audio, and image files can be stored on the Brusnika.LMS server if they are embedded in Longread or added as supplementary materials.

To insert media in Longread:

  • Images: Click "Insert" -> "Image".
  • Video/Audio: Click "Insert" -> "Media". In the dialog box, select the file.
  • For large files, you can use the "Upload" element, which will show the upload progress. After the upload is complete, a link will be available, which then needs to be inserted into the "Embed Code" field when selecting "Insert" -> "Media".

If a video is added to supplementary materials, it will be stored on the server, but when attempting to open it, it will be downloaded to the user's device.

Question: What conditions may prevent the publication of a lesson?

Answer:

The lesson publish button may be inactive in the following cases:

  • Lesson title is missing: The "Lesson Title" field is mandatory.
  • Main Material not added: This applies to all lesson types except "Video Lesson". For "Video Lesson", it is sufficient to enter the title. This is convenient if Lesson consists only of links or additional materials.
How to change the size of the visible screen area when viewing a lesson?

Answer:

To increase the visible screen area during a lesson, you can collapse the side menu by clicking on the corresponding element. This feature is available both in the application and in the CRM system.

Question: How does the Brusnika.LMS system process points for Completion lessons and how are they used?

Answer:

When completing a lesson, the user may be awarded points, the quantity of which is configured when adding the lesson. These points are taken into account when calculating the user's overall rating in the system, which is part of the gamification functionality.
